Split
Knuckle Theatre
presents John Steinbeck’s The
Pearl original
adaptation by Split Knuckle Theatre
|
| Inspired
by the vigor and beauty of John Steinbeck’s classic novel, Split
Knuckle brings to life the story of a poor fisherman’s discovery
of a great pearl. As greed and envy seep in to his life, his dreams
for a better future become a violent nightmare. |
Kino is a poor fisherman. When the gods bless him with a pearl of
unimaginable beauty, his once-impossible dreams for his family become
tantalizingly real. As word spreads of his great fortune, he discovers
that his luck brings with it many dangers. With greed and envy consuming
those around him, his world starts to disintegrate. Attacked by thieves,
Kino and his family must flee their home in order to survive. But
the allure of the pearl draws hunters behind them. Desperate with
fear and fury, unwilling to give up his chance for a better future,
Kino is confronted with a terrible choice.
The Pearl is adapted and created for the stage by
the founding members of Split Knuckle Theatre: Seth Bloom, Andrew
Grusetskie, Juan Mora, Eva Sirp, Michael Toomey, and Greg Webster.
Live Music composed by Patrick Soul and performed by Tomoko Koruma
